Oxford University: Department of Physics

In March of this year, I was invited along to illustrate a Dark Sky meeting hosted by the Physics Department at Oxford University.

Collecting content from the various breakout rooms to add to the main illustration.

The meeting focused on the relationship between dark skies and society – how do we make dark skies relevant to urban spaces? What connects people, culture, and the nature at night? How can we have more impact across political spheres?

Around 45 people came covering a vast range of backgrounds including policy, lighting and space industries, art, journalism, history, philosophy, education, geography, ecology, psychology, tourism, astronomy.

The meeting was not only radical in the vast range of areas represented, but also in format – instead of back-to-back talks, the meeting encouraged discussion and exploration. There were many workshops and breakout rooms on a range of themes, and ample breaks and time for new ideas to emerge.

Content was captured live on paper

Then digitised to share with delegates after the event

After the event took place I created digital copies of the artwork in the clients colours, and size of choice! These were then shared with the attendees as a way to touch base after the event had taken place.
